IPCC members visit Border District

On June 11, nine members of the Independent Police Complaints Council (IPCC), Mr Lo Chi-kin, Mr Chan Bing-woon, Mr Yue Kwok-hung, Mr Leong Kah-kit, Mr Kwan Chi-ping, Mr Shum Ping-shiu, Mr Cham Ka-hung, Mr Koo Ming-yan and Mr Tsou Ka-yin, visited the Border District.

During the visit, the members were introduced to the policing priorities of the District with particular focus on the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Land Boundary Police Co-operation Scheme and anti-II work.

The visitors took a bird's eye view of the Man Kam To Boundary Crossing Point, apart from touring a number of facilities, including the Fence Protection System Control Room, the Man Kam To Vehicle Check Point, the Lok Ma Chau Expansion Project and the 24-hour Border Crossing Point Operation Scheme. They were also briefed on problems associated with commercial vehicles at San Tin Public Transport Interchange.

The visitors were accompanied throughout the visit by the Director of Management Services Mr Yam Tat-wing; Assistant Commissioner (Service Quality) Mr Wong Doon-yee; Border District Commander Mr Fung Kwok-on; Complaints & Internal Investigations Branch Chief Superintendent Ms Chang Mo-see, and IPCC Secretary Mrs Annie Leung.

The visit was organised by the Complaints & Internal Investigations Branch as part of a programme to provide an opportunity for IPCC members to see for themselves frontline police in action so as to enhance their understanding of the practical side of police work.
