PTU re-captures winning title

The Police Tactical Unit Team recaptured the title in the Matilda Hospital Sedan Chair Race held at the Matilda Hospital on November 16 after a narrow defeat in last year's event.

This year the team succeeded in defeating HSBC, Fire Services Department and Securicor Hong Kong, and brought home the title in 13 minutes and 12 seconds for a 3.2 km course. The victory also brought to an end two months of extremely hard physical training and team building as well as fund raising.

This year the response from the Force has been absolutely fantastic and to date over $10,000 in donations has been received.

Donations are still welcome and cheques made payable to the "Matilda Charities Fund" should be forwarded to CIP Ian Strange at PTU HQ. Overall it has been a very successful campaign both on the sporting and fund raising aspects. At this juncture, it is always timely to sound a note of remembrance for SIP Paul Terry who was the initial inspiration behind the Force's participation in the Sedan Chair Race, and who sadly passed away in 1995. Gone but not forgotten.
