With the opening of the Disneyland theme park, Kowloon West Regional Crime Prevention Office (RCPO KW) mounted a major publicity campaign at the Arrival Hall of the China Ferry Terminal, Tsim Sha Tsui, on September 29 to ensure that visitors had an unspoiled trip during the National Day Golden Week.

Officiating at the campaign, Acting Kowloon West Regional Command Mike Howard announced a series of fight crime measures in his Region during the Golden Week. These included a 10-day Crime Prevention Campaign at tourist spots within the Region when officers distributed a "Kowloon West Tour Map" - a leaflet designed for visitors - at the China Ferry Terminal, Hung Hom Railway Terminal, bus stops and major shopping centres to disseminate crime prevention messages to visitors, and remind them to be more careful during sight-seeing and shopping.

The handy tour map leaflet, published both in simplified Chinese characters for Mainland visitors and English for foreign visitors, not only covered the main streets and roads in Kowloon West Region but also listed the main shopping centres, popular tourist spots, hotels and guesthouses, common telephone information, and railway routes, etc.

Through illustration of criminals' common modus operandi, photographs and crime prevention advice, the leaflet called on visitors to take good care of their personal property and mobile phone, and beware of street scams and other forms of deception.

RCPO KW also displayed publicity banners at the China Ferry Terminal and Hung Hom Railway Terminal, with the assistance of students from the Faculty of Designs of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
