The four staff associations of the Force paid a joint visit to Beijing for the first time from March 27 to 29, at the invitation of the Police Association of China. Led by Assistant Commissioner (Personnel) Tang Kam-moon, the delegation comprised representatives from the Superintendents' Association, Hong Kong Police Inspectors' Association, Overseas Inspectors' Association and Junior Police Officers' Association.

The Chairman of the Police Association of China, Mr Tian Qiyu, together with three Vice-chairmen, Mr Luo Feng, Mr Sun Mingshan and Mr Li Runshen, and other senior officials of the association, hosted a dinner for the delegation at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, during which the two parties exchanged views on various issues. Mr Tian also proposed more exchanges between the staff associations of both sides, including exchanges on culture and sport.

Besides the Police Association of China, the delegation also met and exchanged views with the Police Science Society of Beijing. In addition, it visited the Personnel Training Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security, Chinese People's Public Security University, Command Centre of the Beijing Traffic Management Bureau and Tianqiao Police Station of the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau.

Despite its short duration, the visit went a long way towards enhancing the working relationships of the police staff associations in Hong Kong and the Mainland.
