Kwai Tsing District (KWTDIST) continued organising the Asian Link - Cultural Integration Scheme during the summer vacation to promote the cultural integration of Non-ethnic Chinese (NEC) communities into society, strengthen communication between the communities and police, and to enlist their assistance in fighting crime.

With the assistance of PolyU-affiliated Hong Kong Community College (HKCC), Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui (SKH) Lady MacLehose Centre and the Boys and Girls Clubs Association of Hong Kong, a host of activities were organised under the scheme this summer, including computer classes, family day camps, visits to police stations and anti-crime seminars.

To recognise the participating parties' contributions to the scheme, an award presentation ceremony was held at the Kwai Chung Shek Lei Community Hall on August 18. Officiating at the ceremony were Kwai Tsing District Commander Ip Lau-chuen; Chairman of the Kwai Tsing District Fight Crime Committee, Mr Tang Kwok-kong; HKCC Director Dr Simon Leung; Service Coordinator of Hong Kong SHK Lady MacLehose Centre, Mr Chan Ching-wah, and the Leader of Asian Link, Mr Muhammad Naseem Khan.

In his note of thanks, Mr Khan said the scheme organisers, in showing the NEC communities concerns and encouragement, fully manifested the spirit of multi-racial harmony.
