Full house at anti-quick cash crime workshop

Kowloon West Regional Headquarters held a workshop at Tsim Sha Tsui Police Station on September 24 in a bid to prevent quick cash crime during the October 1 Golden Week holiday.

Yau Tsim Deputy District Commander So Kam-sing opened the workshop and addressed an audience of 70 officers from all the Divisions in Kowloon West Region, as well as representatives from Hong Kong Island, Kowloon East, New Territories South, New Territories North and Railway District.

At the invitation of the workshop organiser, Chief Inspector Tsang Yiu-wo from the Regional Crime Unit 1 of Kowloon West, Chief Inspector Chow Siu-tong from the Regional Crime Unit of Hong Kong Island made an informative presentation as a guest speaker. Representatives from the Task Force Sub-unit of Mong Kok District and Patrol Sub-unit 5 of Tsim Sha Tsui Division shared their experience of the characteristics and modus operandi of quick cash crime offenders. The patrol sub-unit officers also presented a demonstration on how to conduct surveillance of the crime.

Representatives from other Regions also joined discussions when the Task Force Sub-unit of Kwai Tsing District spoke of pickpocketing at off-course betting centres and Railway District expressed concerns about the theft cases in MTR Stations.

Overall, the workshop enabled attendants to appreciate the trend and modus operandi of quick cash crime, and improved the liaison among all divisional task forces for combating the crime.
