Organised by Recruitment Division, Human Resources Branch of Personnel Wing, the Summer Day Camp of the Police Mentorship Programme made its debut in the Police College on August 2, with the Head Mentor, Chief Superintendent Harry Chung, giving an opening speech.

Through various exercises and activities, the police mentees brushed up their skills of team building, communication and critical thinking, with the coaching by Police Mentors. The Police College rendered full support by providing venues and facilities for activities, as well as staff to lead the mentees at a warming up session, and to guide them on a tour of the Tactical Training Complex and accommodation for probationary inspectors. The tour gave the mentees an insight into the disciplined life of police recruits.

Another major activity was an experience-sharing session with four ex-mentees who have joined the inspectorate - two under probationary inspector training, and the other two having passed out from the college for a year. They shared with the mentees the bitters and sweets of their training and work.

Following the experience sharing was a dialogue session led the Head Mentor, Deputy Head Mentor Chief Superintendent Alfred Chau and Superintendent (Recruitment) Patrick Kwok. They all encouraged the mentees to brace for the challenges ahead and prepare for serving the community.

The one-day Summer Day Camp concluded with a barbecue, during which the mentees spoke highly of the event and regarded it as a good opportunity not only to appreciate their own potentials, but also get a better idea of the nature of police work.
