If there were a heaven for mountain bikers, it would have to be in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada. With over 200 km of lift serviced, gravity fed, adrenaline fuelled tracks, the Whistler Mountain Bike Park provides every challenge a mountain biker could wish for and few that he or she dares not take. And what's more, Whistler will host the 2009 World Police and Fire Games mountain biking events, which explains why the Hong Kong Police Cycling Club members are working hard to attain competition fitness and keep its skills fresh.

As part of this effort on August 31, Woman Police Constable Sean Ho kit-ying of Crime Headquarters and Police Constable Sin Chun-kwong of Police Tactical Unit Headquarters took first place in the team relay of the Tour de Shenzhen - Zhuhai Road and Mountain Bike Relay Race.

This was followed on September 21, with Sean securing first place in the AA three-hour Enduro series, whilst WPC Dennex Lui Lai-han of Wan Chai District came third in her first competitive outing for the club.

On September 28, Sean reasserted her standing with a convincing win at the Tin Ping Shan cross-country mountain bike series.

Venturing onto the Mainland for a series of mountain bike events at the University of Guangzhou on October 12, Sean secured first place with Dennex taking a commendable third position against stiff competition. Not to be outdone by the ladies, PC Sin placed second in the men's open group.

Back in Hong Kong on October 19, riding on the demanding Chi Ma Wan Peninsula course in a four-hour Enduro event, Sean hung onto the lead by one minute. She is currently sitting pretty to take the title of Hong Kong's fastest female mountain biker.

Commenting on her success, Sean noted: "Although I took the silver medal in Adelaide at the 2007 World Police and Fire Games, the competition routes in Whistler will be much tougher and world class, therefore it's important that the team and I get as much training and competition experience as possible."
