Officers mobilised for EAG
Events of the Hong Kong 2009 East Asian Games (EAG) are underway at 22 venues, starting on December 2, and will finish on December 13. The Opening Ceremony was staged at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza and the Victoria Harbour on December 5, featuring ceremonial rituals, cultural performances, parade of adorned vessels, lighting of the EAG flame and a fireworks display.

The Force carried out crowd management measures and special traffic arrangements on both sides of the harbour to facilitate public participation in the EAG Opening Ceremony and fireworks display and to ensure public safety.
About 3,000 officers have been mobilised to ensure that all the events of the EAG would proceed smoothly in a safe and secure environment.
