November 27 saw the successful staging of the Kowloon East (KE) Regional Sports Day 2009 at the Police Sports and Recreation Club, when officers took part in 11-a-side football, tennis, badminton, squash, table tennis, ten-pin bowling, lawn bowls, and tug-of-war, as well as the traditional "Fun Sports".

Fine weather made athletes representing different Formations more energetic in vying for various trophies. After rounds of tough battles, Wong Tai Sin District (WTSDIST) emerged as the biggest winner, claiming triumph in tennis (female), table tennis (female), ten-pin bowling and lawn bowls, while Kwun Tong District took the trophies for 11-a-side football, "Fun Sports", squash (female), and badminton (female); Traffic KE picked golds in tug-of-war (both male and female) and badminton (male), and Railway District won the tennis (male) and squash (male) events.

During prize presentation, the spectators in high spirits brought the day to a climax with non-stop applause, particularly when KE Regional Commander Suen Kwai-leung presented the Major Unit Trophy to WTSDIST and Deputy Regional Commander Fung Kwok-on handed the Minor Unit Trophy to Traffic KE.

Finally the Sports Day closed in a carnival atmosphere, successfully driving home the important message of leading a healthy lifestyle.

Doing their best to win
