PSC Annual Regatta

The Police Sailing Club (PSC) held its Annual Regatta at Ma Liu Sui, Marine North Division, home of PSC's sailing activities. Taking part in the event for the first time were four brand new two-man Topaz dinghies donated to Operation Breakthrough by the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

Weather was perfect for the event with bright sunshine and a strong northerly wind. Wetsuits were the order of the day and many spectacular capsizes were seen, but with standards improving a lot over the past year, and thanks in no small measure to the activities organised by Auxiliary Senior Superintendent Chan Tsan-ming and his coaching staff, none required much assistance.

Racing was fiercely competitive in both the Topper and Topaz classes and the record turnout of 22 officers, sailing the four Topaz and 12 Topper dinghies, enjoyed three thrilling races. No single sailor walked away with every race, so the final placings depended on the results of the last race in both classes. The eventual placings were:

Topper Class

1st : SSP Roderick Colson
2nd : DPC Tsang Chi-choi
3rd : PC Chui Ka-chun

Topaz Class

1st : SGT Leung Kwok-wai and SSGT Poon Chi-ming
2nd : DSGT Lau Kai-leung and PC Lam Wai-kin
3rd : SPs Michael Armstrong and Mark Ford-McNicol
