Police volunteers back anti-drugs drive
|A party of 48
police volunteers recruited from various Regions and Formations threw
their full support for a large-scale anti-drugs publicity event at Sha
Tin Racecourse on June 22. The event was jointly organised by the
Narcotics Division (ND) of the Security Bureau and the Action Committee
Against Narcotics (ACAN) to demonstrate their collective commitment to
fighting drugs, raising the curtain for this year's territory-wide
campaign against drug abuse by youth.

Drawing over 1 300 youths and representatives from the community, the event also tied in with the United Nations International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on June 26 to rally community support for the anti-drugs cause.
The Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, declared the event open in the presence of the Secretary for Security, Mr Ambrose S K Lee, the Chairperson of ACAN, Professor Daniel Shek, and Commissioner for Narcotics, Mrs Erika Hui. Assistant Commissioner (Crime) Lo Mung-hung, Kowloon West Regional Commander Fan Sik-ming and District Commanders were also present to show their support for the event.
After the event, ND will launch a series of education and publicity activities, and step up display of anti-drugs advertisements in upstairs bars and karaoke establishments during the summer holidays.
Mrs Hui has highly praised the police volunteers for their contributions to the anti-drugs event.
