Western District (WDIST) held a "Three-on-Three Basketball Competition" as part of a "Multi-dimensional View of Psychotropic Drugs Project" in Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park Sports Centre on April 2.

A large gathering of guests turned up to support the competition, including Acting WDIST Deputy Commander Bruce Hawkins, Chairman of the Southern District Fight Crime Committee, Mr Leung Ho-kwan, Vice-president of the Western District Junior Police Call Honorary President Council, Mr Cheung Pak-fun, Chairman of the Central and Western District Fight Crime Committee Youth and Prevention of Dangerous Drugs Working Group, Mr Yeung Hok-ming, and Vice-supervisor of the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals (TWGH) CROSS Centre, Mr Tsang Wang-keung.

In recent years, Western District has been combatting youth drug abuse by launching a number of projects for schools and youngsters to promote the message of "Say No to Drugs". Since the "Multi-dimensional View of Psychotropic Drugs Project" was launched in 2008, WDIST had organised various promotion activities in conjunction with the Western District Junior Police Call Honorary President Council and the TWGH CROSS Centre, including displaying exhibition panels on dangerous drugs in schools, setting up activity booths on healthy lifestyle and conducting health check-ups, distributing anti-drug messages to about 10,000 people over the years.

The "Three-on-Three Basketball Competition" helps keep youngsters away from dangerous drugs. The participation of many teams from secondary schools and non-government organisations as well as a police volunteer team added to the excitement and fun of the contest. At the same time, promotion materials were on display at the competition venue, giving the participants a better understanding of the evils of drug abuse.
