Force members turned out in force for the Physical Fitness and Health Management (PHM) Carnival 2013 at Police Sports and Recreation Club on April 21 to support Personnel Services and Staff Relations Branch and police sports and arts clubs in promoting a culture of regular exercise and healthy lifestyle among Force members and heightening their awareness of physical fitness and health management.

About 4,600 regular and auxiliary officers, civilians and their families participated in the event and enjoyed a day of fun and performances by police sports and arts clubs, with many trying their best in the Super PHM Star Competition while others enjoying parent-child exercise play-in.

Pok Oi Hospital and Hong Kong Society of Medical Professionals supported the carnival by providing free health checks and medical consultations for the participants. Besides diverse activities on physical health, there were also a game booth on Positive Mental Health and an exhibition of the award-winning entries to the "Prudent Family and Personal Financial Management Poster Design and Creative Slogan"competitions.

The event also saw staging of the Force Colours Award Presentation Ceremony and a Flag Presentation Ceremony for the 2013 World Police & Fire Games (WPFG). Twenty-six officers were presented with the Force Colours Award for Sports while nine others with the Award for Arts. New Territories North Region clinched the Purdon Shield for its overall outstanding achievement in sports.

The WPFG Flag Presentation Ceremony took place before over 300 guests and Force athletes when the Colour Guard presented the Colour to Commissioner Tsang Wai-hung, who handed it over to Deputy Commissioner (Management) Ma Wai-luk, who will lead the Force delegation to WPFG 2013 to be held in Belfast, Northern Ireland, from August 1 to 10. Other leaders of the delegation will be Police Sports Council Chairman, Hong Kong Island District Commander Li Kin-fai, and Chairman of the Force's Organising Committee, Police College Director Cheng Se-lim.
