Subsequent to the night visits to the liquor licensed premises in Yau Tsim and Central districts by the Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, Chairman of the Liquor Licensing Board, Mr Yau How-boa, and board members in November last year, the Municipal Services Appeal Board also made its first visit to Central District on a Saturday night this month.

As well as reporting on the Operation MOCKPLAYER conducted at the entertainment places in Lan Kwai Fong and Soho, the police also discussed with representatives of various government departments the measures of compliance check on liquor licensed premises.

At the same time, representatives of Food and Environmental Hygiene Department and Buildings Department also explained to the Appeal Board members details of liquor licence application, the maximum capacity of liquor licensed premises and public safety in buildings.

The police then arranged for the Appeal Board members and government department representatives to visit the liquor licensed premises in Central District to gain first hand information on the characteristics of the premises.

During the visit, Chairman of the Appeal Board, Mr Kwok Tung-ming, Senior Counsel, and his board members gained a better understanding of the licence conditions imposed on liquor licensed premises, as well as the impact of the premises on the community. The visit would also enable government department representatives to handle applications from liquor licensed premises more effectively.
