The railway system in Hong Kong is renowned for its safety and speed. Though the network is free from serious crimes and major incidents, its Tsuen Wan Line passes through the network's most busy area. Some of the things officers have handled on this bustling route give them special feelings. A recent case has left a deep impression on me.

On March 31, a Mainland couple were separated from their young daughter in Mong Kok MTR Station.  The thought of locating the girl from large crowds made them more despondent and desperate. Tears were rolling down the wife's face and the couple later turned to police for help. After receiving their report, my colleagues and I immediately conducted a search and subsequently located the girl in the concourse of the Tsim Sha Tsui MTR Station.

I can recall that the couple were very worried about the safety of their daughter. Thanks to the co-operation of my colleagues, the girl was located within a short time.  Watching the couple hug the frightened girl, I shared their joy and felt a sense of mission. This will give me more confidence and a sense of satisfaction for my jobs. The couple later sent a letter of appreciation, praising officers for their performances and teamwork.

In line with the Force's fine tradition, my colleagues and I will continue to do our best to provide quality services, project the positive image of the Force and maintain the railway as one of the safest transport network in the world.

(Editor's note : the letter of appreciation from the couple is published in the Chinese section)
