To held the homes for the elderly in Kowloon City improve their services, Kowloon City Division (KCDIV) hosted an "Aged Home Seminar" in conjunction with Social Welfare Department, Hung Hom Division and the Regional Crime Prevention Office (RCPO) of Kowloon West Region.

As early as in May 2010, KCDIV organised its first "Care at Aged Home Seminar" and received a big support from the aged homes within the Division. To strengthen the co-operation among the Force, the Social Welfare Department and aged homes, and to establish a platform for communication, KCDIV organised the "Aged Home Seminar" in Kowloon City Police Station on May 8. The seminar also aimed at briefing the audience on how Police handle missing elders and minimise the opportunities of inmates leaving aged homes inadvertently.

Among those attending the seminar were representatives from Social Welfare Department, Hung Hom Division and RCPO, as well as representatives from a total of 33 private and public aged homes in Kowloon City. The seminar covered Old Age Living Allowance, Police procedures for handling missing elders, and security measures to prevent inmates from missing from aged homes.

In a bid to make aged homes more aware of security and crime prevention, RCPO officers introduced the security facilities for aged homes as well as the latest deception modus operandi and the related prevention measures.

The audience generally felt that the seminar strengthened their understanding of police procedures and enhanced the co-operation among the stakeholders.
