Advice to Hikers Crime Prevention Bureau(CPB)

    

Apart from bringing maps, food, drinking water and other suitable equipment, hikers must also take into account the following safety tips:

  • Plan your itinerary and route in advance. Finish the journey before dark and stick to the main trails as far as possible;

  • Tell friends or family your hiking route and inform when completed;

  • Walk in a group;

  • Carry a mobile phone for emergency use;

  • Don't carry a large amount of cash or valuables;

  • If you spot any suspicious person, keep a distance and report to the Police;

  • If robbed, do not resist;

  • Note robbers' escape route, appearance, accent or other characteristic; and

  • In emergency, call "999".
