Commandant's Words
Mr. YIU Yeung-Lung,Commandant Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Force The Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Force (HKAPF) has a long history of loyal service to the society. It began in 1914 when 29 Hong Kong citizens volunteered for duty with the then newly formed Police Reserve to assist the regular Police Force in maintaining law and order. From this modest beginning during the First World War, the Force has now grown to perform a wide variety of duties throughout Hong Kong. Initially, used as emergency back-up at times of war or riot, the HKAPF is now integrated with the regulars. The men and women of our Force receive the same professional training as the regulars and are fully prepared to share the burden of ensuring Hong Kong to remain one of the safest cities in the world. |
