Reported by Kenny The fear of terrorism is greater than ever these years. With Hong Kong's position as a world city, we are at risk too. Thank goodness, we have a special group of brave officers to safeguard our safety. The Special Duties Unit is nicknamed the 'Flying Tigers'. Many people think that they are 'Rambo' types who always carry weapons. That is not true. Although part of their duties is to fight terrorists, they also work to help people. For example, the SDU have helped rescue villagers trapped by floods in the New Territories. They have also brought emergency medical supplies to victims of natural disasters. The SDU started in 1974 and have come a long way. I asked how many SDU officers there were, but they would not say. SDU officers are intensively trained in using firearms, handling explosives and working underwater. SDU equipment is second-to-none. This ensures that they are always ready to face terrorist threats. The SDU headquarters hangs a plaque that reads: "Terrorism is the threat. We are the answer." After seeing SDU officers in action, I believe it!
