Soymilk originates from China where soybeans (also referred to as the "cow of China"), is native. People believe soymilk was first discovered and developed by Lord Liu An of the Han Dynasty around 164 B.C. Today, soymilk is made by grinding soaked soybeans with water. Soymilk contains about the same amount of protein as cow milk and is becoming increasingly popular in the West. Babies who may be allergic to cow's milk can be fed with soymilk for carbohydrates, fat, vitamins and minerals needed for healthy growth.
