With cycling becoming a popular sport, and the government planning to build more cycling tracks in the New Territories, the Police Road Safety Team of New Territories South (NTS) staged the "2011 Summer Safe Cycling Campaign cum Prize Presentation Ceremony for Safe Cycling Mural Competition" in Sha Tin on July 10. The team's strategic partners in this promotional event were Road Safety Patrol of New Territories South, Sha Tin District Council, Auxiliary Medical Service and Sha Tin District Primary and Secondary School Heads Association.

Speaking at the prize ceremony, Police NTS Senior Superintendent (Traffic) Yip Kin-chau stressed that the event aimed at reducing the number of bicycle accidents and making youngsters and cyclists more aware of safe cycling.

The safe cycling mural competition had drawn many entries from secondary and primary school students in Sha Tin, and the prize-winning entries are on display on the outer wall of the Auxiliary Medical Service First Aid Depot at Yuen Wo Road, Sha Tin. Following the prize presentation, some cycling groups, led by Police NTS Road Safety Team officers and Auxiliary Medical Service, cycled to Pak Shek Kok Promenade to promote safe cycling.
