In 2007, the Force joined the Social Welfare Department's on-the-job training programme, "Sunnyway", which aims at enhancing the employment of young persons with disabilities or early signs of mental illness. Under the programme, a young graduate of the Hong Kong Design Institute, Amy Wong, is receiving on-the-job training at the Central Traffic Prosecution Division.

Having no working experience, Amy told OffBeat that she hoped to acquire such experience through her job attachment so as to lay a good foundation for finding jobs in future.

She started job attachment to the prosecution division at the end of September and is working in the reception office, receiving and helping members of the public. For example, finding out if they are coming to pay fines or enquire about fixed penalty ticket, or to apply for record of traffic offence. Her main duty is to ensure that these visitors would get the services they require.

Amy conceded that before her job attachment she was afraid of taking the initiative to talk to people, but having come into contact with many visitors in the reception office, she became more proactive and brushed up her inter-personal skills. In addition, as she has to find out what services the visitors want, she has become more observant. "These improvements would be a big help for me to find a job," she noted.
Appreciating the Force's support for her, Amy pointed out that the Force had good facilities, such as barrier-free access and unisex accessible toilet. The staff members of the prosecution division were very friendly and forthcoming in helping her where necessary. "My job attachment is very useful and offers me a lot to learn. For young people in need of such training, the job attachment is a very good opportunity to learn new things,"she said.

Amy took the opportunity to appeal to the public to care about the employment situation of people with disabilities and help them integrate into society.
