After planning and construction works for three years, the new Lamma Police Post of Marine Port District was officially opened by Marine Regional Commander Chiu Wai-yin on December 17, 2013.

Speaking at the opening ceremony before a large gathering of  local community dignitaries, senior staff of Marine Region and Architectural Services Department, and contractors, Ms Chiu emphasised that the new police post was a welcome addition to the policing of Lamma Island and it aimed at improving services, enhancing protection of privacy, providing more comfort for members of the public using the services and at the same time enhancing security.

The new Lamma Police Post, located at Yung Shu Wan, replaced the old one at the remote Hung Shing Yeh Wan, which was built in 1966. The new post was relocated in the present location which is close to the town centre.

The design of the Lamma Police Post blends in with the surrounding environment and provides a quality client-based service to the public. Its main features include a new-generation report room, interview room, temporary holding area, multi-functional room and green garden on the rooftop.

The public area, police operation area and the detention area are separated with CCTV coverage to strengthen security through effective monitoring of report room activities. The new post also provides officers with modern office accommodation and boosts staff efficiency and esprit de corps.
