With a large population of ethnic minorities and five schools admitting Non-ethnic Chinese (NEC) students, Sau Mau Ping District (SMPDIST) has been actively forging close ties with the ethnic minorities. In addition to two ethnic minority integration programmes, namely "Project Harmonious Pyramid" and "Project Harmony Green", SMPDIST Junior Police Call (JPC) also organises many integration activities for both local and NEC young people. So far the JPC has recruited over 300 NEC youths as members.

To tailor-make integration programmes to meet the needs of the ethnic minorities, SMPDIST Commander Andrew Lovatt appointed Islamic mosque imam, Qari Muhammad Owais, as Honorary Advisor of the Sau Mau Ping JPC last month before a large gathering of guests, including the President of the Khatme Nubuwwat Islamic Council Limited Hong Kong, Mr Mohammad Yaqub, Chairman of Sau Mau Ping District JPC Honorary President Council, Mr Wong Fan-foung, Kwun Tong District Councillors, and members of the Kwun Tong District Fight Crime Committee.

With the appointment, SMPDIST is looking forward to enhancing communication and co-operation with the NEC community in fighting and preventing crimes.
The appointment will boost the ties between the JPC and the Non-ethnic Chinese community
