Mong Kok District (MKDIST) rolled out a project known as "HIKER" with the Hong Kong Playgrounds Association on January 11 in a bid to encourage teenagers to participate in activities for enhancing their confidence and resilience and setting positive life goals.
 
Supported by local community leaders, MKDIST Junior Police Call Honorary President Council, Yau Tsim Mong (YTM) District Council, YTM District Fight Crime Committee and YTM District School Liaison Committee, the project provides for young people, including those from the ethnic minorities, education, adventure activities, visits to police units and voluntary services.
 
The launching ceremony was held at the Mong Kok Integrated Service Centre for Children & Youth of the Hong Kong Playgrounds Association before a large gathering of guests, including community leaders, Mr Nelson Lock, Ms Jenny Chan and Mr Cheung Ka-ho, YTM District Fight Crime Committee members, Mr Paul Law and Mr Eugene Fong, Principal of Sir Ellis Kadoorie Secondary School (West Kowloon), Mr Li Wing-leung, and Principal of All Saints' Middle School, Ms Van Wai-yee.
 
During the launching ceremony, teenagers participating in the project made a pledge before Acting MKDIST Commander Tsang Yim-sheung that they would do their utmost to take on every task and challenge.
