The Force has been named as winner of the 2013 Global (Independent Operating Unit) Most Admired Knowledge Enterprise (MAKE) Award in recognition of its efforts and achievements in creating a knowledge-driven culture.

On February 21, Deputy Commissioner (Management) Ma Wai-luk led a Force delegation to receive the award at the Forum on "Raising Productivity through Knowledge Management (KM)" cum Global and Hong Kong MAKE Awards Presentation Ceremony 2013.

During the ceremony, Senior Superintendent Dr Cheng Tak-ming delivered a presentation on the Force's KM practices. He pointed out that the implementation of KM in the Force greatly enhanced organisational capability and performance, keeping Hong Kong as one of the safest and most stable societies in the world.

The Award not only recognises the Force as an admirable law enforcement agency but also confirms it as a knowledge-powered learning organisation committed to serving Hong Kong in a global context.

This is the first time a Hong Kong organisation has been recognised as a "Global MAKE Award" winner and the Force is the only police force amongst this year's winners.  In addition, the Force is also winner of the "2013 Hong Kong MAKE Award" and the "2013 Asian MAKE Award".

The MAKE Award is an annual competition organised by the Teleos and Knowledge Management Innovation and Research Centre of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University to recognise the achievements of outstanding enterprises and organisations in successfully implementing corporate-wide KM programmes.

The 2013 Global MAKE Award adjudicating panel comprised senior executives of "Global Fortune 500" companies and KM experts.
