New Territories South Regional Commander (RC NTS) Lau Chi-wai inspected at Sha Tsui Road Playground in Tsuen Wan on February 16 the Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol (New Territories South Region), which comprised a total of 26 road safety patrol teams from secondary schools, primary schools and kindergartens in New Territories South Region.

Speaking at the inspection, Ms Lau thanked the Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol for playing a frontline role in promoting road safety. The formation of the first Non-ethnic Chinese student team ensured that road safety messages would reach the ethnic groups, she pointed out.

Ms Lau went on to say that over the years the Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol had cultivated the basic knowledge of road safety among young road safety team members and motivated them to actively participate in road safety campaigns. "Road safety involving senior citizens and students is our major concern. While the Police spare no efforts in reducing traffic accidents, the support and co-operation of the Road Safety Patrol and the general public are essential to disseminating road safety messages for achieving the goal of 'Zero Accidents on the Road, Hong Kong's Goal'," she added.
