Lantau District (LTDIST) hosted a Community Day on February 14 to thank the community for helping the Police fight and prevent crime.

At the ceremony, LTDIST commended five good citizens for helping police arrest culprits in cases of burglary, theft of incense trees, uttering forged identity cards and deception.

At the same time, LTDIST also presented awards to 11 officers who are winners of an Outstanding Police Contest jointly organised by Islands District Fight Crime Committee and LTDIST. The contest aimed at boosting the morale of frontline officers by offering the Lantau community a channel to pay recognition to those who have come up with outstanding performances. An adjudicating panel comprising District Fight Crime Committee members picked the winners.

Speaking at the Community Day, LTDIST Commander Cho Ming-lung welcomed two newly appointed Junior Police Call (JPC) Honorary Presidents and thanked all JPC Honorary Presidents for supporting LTDIST over the years. At the same time, he presented certificate of appointments and long service certificates to 13 JPC Honorary Presidents.

Earlier, Mr Cho officiated at the event with New Territories South Regional Commander Lau Chi-wai and representatives from Islands District Office, District Council, District Fight Crime Committee, Rural Committee, Tung Chung Safe and Health City and LTDIST JPC Honorary Presidents.
