The Regional Crime Prevention Office Hong Kong Island (RCPO HKI), in coordination with the police districts on Hong Kong Island and the Railway District (RAILDIST), mounted a joint operation codenamed "EAGLEHUNT" on March 22. During the operation, publicity on prevention of pickpocketing and miscellaneous thefts was mounted in Mass Transit Railway (MTR) stations.

For the "EAGLEHUNT" operation, RCPO HKI continued with the "Crime Prevention Pioneer" scheme in co-operation with community organisations for youngsters to take part in crime prevention activities. Twenty-two volunteers from schools, including Pui Kiu Middle School, Sacred Heart Canossian College, Raimondi College, St Francis' Canossian College and Clementi Secondary School, pitched in for the operation.

The volunteers, together with officers, displayed publicity banners in the Sheung Wan, Hong Kong, Central, Admiralty, Wan Chai, Causeway Bay, Fortress Hill, North Point and Tai Koo MTR stations, attracting the attention of many MTR commuters. At the same time, they also distributed over 26,000 copies of a flyer and other items printed with crime prevention messages to the public.
