Under its Project "HIMALAYA", Yuen Long District (YLDIST) rolled out a cricket-training programme on April 12 with a view to promoting racial harmony and allowing Non-ethnics Chinese (NEC) youngsters to learn and practise the sport.

YLDIST and Yuen Long Town Hall jointly offer the free-of-charge programme every Saturday for the trainees to boost physical fitness and determination, establish positive values and improve communication skills. At the same time, they also make new friends and learn different cultures and backgrounds. Helping the NEC youngsters overcome communication barriers would facilitate their integration with the locals in the interest of social harmony.

Over 20 NEC Junior Police Call members have joined the training programme, learning the regulations and basic techniques of cricket during training sessions conducted by coaches.
