In a bid to tackle cross-boundary phone scam, Senior Superintendent (SSP) Eugene Yue from Crime Kowloon East led a delegation of six officers to call at Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department (GD PSD) on April 23 and attended a working meeting to discuss crime trends, intelligence exchange and anti-phone scam strategies.

With the Regional Crime Unit Kowloon East being the Force designated unit for tackling phone scam, SSP Yue stressed that the crime is a cross-boundary problem requiring the nearby jurisdictions to work together to address the problem.  The Deputy Chief of the Major Crime Division of Crime Investigation Bureau, Mr Ruan Fucheng, welcomed the delegation and pledged to strengthen co-operation in fighting cross-boundary phone scam.

During the meeting, both parties also discussed matters related to crime prevention, intelligence gathering and enforcement action against phone scam. The delegation also passed intelligence to GD PSD for conducting joint investigations and operations. Finally, both parties undertook to step up co-operation and intelligence exchange.
