Following the success of the "Wise Ride Pilot 2013" Campaign last year in providing cyclists with knowledge and skills of safe cycling with a multi-agency approach, Traffic New Territories South (T NTS) held on May 4 a Safe Cycling Promotion Campaign called "Adventure Safe Cycling Training" in conjunction with Sha Tin District and Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol (HKRSP) (NTS Region).

The kick-off ceremony took place at the Adventure Cycling Arena of Siu Lek Yuen Road Playground in Sha Tin. Officiating at the ceremony were Sha Tin District Council  (STDC) Chairman, Mr Ho Hau-cheung, STDC Traffic and Transport Committee (TTC) Chairman, Mr Yiu Ka-chun, Convenor of STDC TTC Road Safety Working Group, Mr Cheng Cho-kwong, HKRSP Deputy Commissioner, Dr Liu Kai-ming, HKRSP Regional Commander NTS, Mr Tony Cheung, HKRSP District Commander Sha Tin, Mr Lau Kwok-leung, Sha Tin District Commander So Kam-tong, T NTS Senior Superintendent Kwok Ho-yee, and Sha Tin District Police Community Relations Officer Tam Wing-sze.

The programme of the campaign included bicycle display, safe cycling talk, sharing of safe cycling techniques and training, and the ways to conduct serviceability check of bicycle before setting off. In the ceremony, eight young cycling enthusiasts familiar with cycling regulations were appointed Safe Cycling Ambassadors. Following the appointment, they distributed publicity leaflets and disseminated safe cycling messages to the public along cycling paths with NTS road safety officers.
