The Force's recruitment target for the financial year 2014-2015 is about 1 300 officers, comprising more than 200 Probationary Inspectors and 1 110 Recruit Police Constables. To attract more candidates with the right calibre to join the Force, Recruitment Division held the annual Police Recruitment Seminar in Police College on May 17.

The seminar provided the participants with information on selection process, physical fitness test demonstration, experience sharing by junior inspectors and constables, and on-site initial screening, which included height and weight measurement and eyesight test. This one-stop service aims to streamline and facilitate processing of applications.

The participants also toured Police College with the guidance of trainees to gain a better understanding of the training environment and the ways to prepare for the selection process.

To inspire more young people to join the Force, Recruitment Division invited members of the Junior Police Call and youth uniform groups as well as Non-ethnic Chinese students to attend the seminar. The seminar attracted a record number of 1 100 participants, thanks to the success of a multi-media publicity strategy and the support of Police Public Relations Branch, Police Community Relations Offices, Police College, local universities, institutes of higher education and youth uniform groups.

The Police Recruitment Seminar is one of the Force's major recruitment events. The next major recruitment event will be the "Recruitment Day" scheduled for July 26 at Police Headquarters.
