The Research Centre under the Specialised Services Training Centre of Police College has launched a new knowledge creation series entitled "Beyond Boundaries Learning".  This new series invites speakers from other law enforcement agencies, in particular those having a direct interface with policing, to share their law enforcement experiences with Force members.

Police College Senior Superintendent (SSP) Eric Cheng hopes the series would offer a better understanding of the work of the other law enforcement agencies, which in turn would foster closer co-operation and synergise law enforcement collaboration.

The debut session of the series kicked off in the Police College Seminar Hall at Police Headquarters on May 7 when Mr Cheng Tak-hei, Senior Inspector of Intellectual Property Technology Crime Investigation, and Mr Tong Wing-cheong, Senior Trade Controls Officer, both from Customs and Excise (C & E) Department, shared their experiences.

Mr Tong spoke of his experience with Police divisions in handling a large number of cases arising from the ban on smuggling milk powder across the boundary, while Mr Cheng Tak-hei shared his experience of tackling piracy trades using Internet platform, in which the fraudsters use offshore Internet services providers to evade Hong Kong jurisdiction.

The sharing session offered the audience a good platform for learning and improving beyond the policing context. This cross-organisational interaction would broaden Force members' exposure and strengthen inter-departmental co-operation.  The next sharing session of the series will be delivered by Immigration Department next month.
