As the coastal area of Tuen Mun is home to many residents and the primary school headmasters in the district are interested in maritime policing, the Police Community Relations Office of Tuen Mun District arranged for members of the Tuen Mun District Primary School Heads Association to visit Tai Lam Marine Base and take a closer look at the work of Marine Police on April 28.

On hand to welcome 26 headmasters was Marine West Divisional Commander Ian Clark, who briefed the guests on the daily chores of Marine Police. Following the briefing, the headmasters boarded a police launch to gain a feel of the rough working conditions of Marine Police officers.

The officers also updated the headmasters on their advanced equipment and accoutrements, search and rescue operations, as well as the difficulties they face in using firearms onboard. The importance of close co-operation between Marine Police and other government departments was also explained.

Later at a sharing session, the headmasters showed a great interest in the career paths of Marine Police officers as well as their requisite qualifications and professional training.

The visit concluded with the guests thanking Marine Base officers for laying on an interesting visit and pledging to work closely with Marine Police in maintaining law and order.
