The Membership Secretary of the International Police Association (IPA) Hong Kong Section, retired Station Sergeant Stanley Chan Kim-ming, paid a courtesy call at IPA US New York Region in April and got a warm reception from the President, Mr Juan Perez.

During the visit, Stanley called at local police organisations, namely Mounted Unit, Bomb Squad, 6th Precinct, Communication Division, Police Academy, Emergency Unit, Transit Police Bureau and Police Museum. He also exchanged views with local police officers on the police recruitment, training and beat duties of Hong Kong and New York.

Stanley has just retired but, as a life member of the IPA Hong Kong Section, will continue to serve the association.

The IPA is an independent body made up of officers from 64 countries or regions, both serving and retired, regardless of rank, sex, race, language or religion. Its goal is to create bonds of friendship and promote international co-operation.

Established in 1960, IPA Hong Kong Section has about 800 members serving in different units. From time to time, they extend their hospitality to overseas IPA members on trips to Hong Kong. IPA Hong Kong members will enjoy reciprocal hospitality when they travel to other membership countries or regions.

IPA Hong Kong welcomes serving or retired police officers, auxiliary police officers and civilian attached to the Force to join.  For more details, check website www.ipa-hksar.com.
