The “Project Chummak” run by New Territories South (NTS) Region is an integration programme for the Non-ethnic Chinese (NEC) residents in NTS, with emphasis on strengthening officers’ understanding of the NEC community.

Under the programme, the Regional Crime Prevention Office of NTS (RCPO NTS) started organising a cooking class in May for the officers. Apart from learning how to make Indian curry in four lessons, the officers also had an opportunity to know more about Indian cultures, languages and customs from two Indian tutors.

At the invitation of RCPO NTS, three NEC Police Community Liaison Assistants gave talks to officers last month on their cultures, languages and what they faced whilst trying to integrate with the local community.
The next cooking class will commence later this month with Nepalese culture as the theme.
