Tuen Mun District (TMDIST) offered Non-ethnic Chinese (NEC) women a seminar on "The Law on Domestic Violence and Child Abuse" on June 23. District Commander Iain McNicol hosted the seminar with Senior Inspector Wong Chi-yu from Regional Crime Unit New Territories North as speaker.  Miss Chan Sau-bik, Assistant District Social Welfare Officer (Tuen Mun) of Social Welfare Department, representatives from social welfare organisations and non-government organisations, and the Imam of mosque were present by invitation.

During the seminar, the audience raised many questions and discussed various issues, including child abuse, domestic violence, protection of abused women and action against perpetrators.  TMDIST Police Community Relations Officer Choy Chun-wah answered the questions in detail.

The audience thanked TMDIST for promoting cultural integration with NEC community and organising the seminar, which, they noted, not only helped them promote anti-violence messages in their community, but also beefed up their knowledge of the law on child abuse and family problems.
