Shatin District (STDIST) and New Territories South Regional Crime Prevention Office (NTS RCPO) hosted a seminar on "Project MegaSafeguard" on June 16 for 53 managerial staff and security personnel from various housing estate management companies in Shatin. The Chairman of the Shatin District Fight Crime Committee, Mr Lee Kam-ming, attended the seminar as a guest of honour.

At the seminar, officers from NTS RCPO explained the main responsibilities of security personnel and the legislation related to security work.  Officers from STDIST Intelligence Section also introduced "Project MegaSafeguard", crime trends and the modus operandi of criminals.  The audience was encouraged to actively participate in the project, provide crime intelligence and disseminate crime prevention massages to their colleagues.

To strengthen the close ties of the community and frontline security personnel with the police for preventing and fighting crime, NTS Region launched "Project MegaSafeguard" in January this year.  STDIST spearheaded the project in co-operation with 38 property management companies for 111 residential housing estates in Shatin.
