Traffic New Territories South (T NTS) has designed a Traffic Mentors Scheme in pursuance of the Commissioner's Strategic Direction for 2012-2014 on recruitment, retention and training of traffic officers.  A briefing on the scheme was held in NTS Regional Headquarters on July 9.

Under the scheme, experienced traffic officers are appointed mentors to provide guidance and support for those who have just joined the traffic stream. While the mentees would benefit from communication with the mentors and experience sharing, the mentors themselves would be able to brush up their leadership and communication skills.

At the briefing session, NTS Road Safety Officer, Senior Inspector Li Wing-kam, introduced the objectives and function of the scheme, as well as the roles of a mentor and the challenges mentors might face. At the end of the session, the traffic mentors received letters of appointment from T NTS Senior Superintendent Kwok Ho-yee for the mission of grooming new blood for the traffic stream.
