The Opening cum Appointment Ceremony of the "Navigating with Me" Scheme of Western District's 11th Spring Bud Project took place on July 19.

Among the officiating guests were Western District (WDIST) Deputy Commander Kan Kai-yan, Western District Junior Police Call Honorary Presidents Council Spring Bud Project 2014 Organising Committee Vice-chairman, Mr Tsang Chiu-hing, Southern District Fight Crime Committee Chairman, Mr Leung Ho-kwan, Central and Western District Fight Crime Committee Chairman, Mr Yip Chun-nam, Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Jockey Club Lei Tung Integrated Services Centre Officer Wong Yuet-wah and Hong Kong YWCA District Officer Cheung Chi-kwan.

This year, the project has recruited over 40 police volunteers from districts and units, who share the common goal of serving society and using their spare time and professional knowledge to enhance communication with young people.

The project has adopted "Navigating with Me" as this year's theme. At the opening ceremony, the officiating guests tolled together a copper bell, symbolising the start of a "voyage", during which the police volunteers will steer young people to a straight path and help them establish a proper outlook of life.

The Spring Bud Project has entered the 11th year. Over the years, WDIST, with the support of the Lei Tung Integrated Services Centre and the Hong Kong YWCA Western District Integrated Social Service Centre as close partners, has organised a great variety of activities for young people in Central, Western and Southern Districts. So far, over 800 young people have benefited from the project and over 400 police volunteers have offered various types of assistance for the project.
