To strengthen frontline officers' sense of awareness of, and skills in, handling cases of Mentally Disordered Persons (MDP), Kwai Tsing District (KWTDIST) invited psychiatric experts from Kwai Chung Hospital to provide 10 sessions of seminars and training for frontline officers between September and November. The sessions, besides elaborating on the mental conditions of MDPs, helped officers master the skills of identifying and handling MDP and offered useful tips on helping MDP.

KWTDIST has launched "Project New Dawn" since 2010 to provide support for MDP and their families by collaborating closely with other government departments and organisations. Three main strategies have been adopted under the project, namely, strengthening training for frontline officers, advancing early identification of cases, and promoting multi-professional co-operation.

To thank Kwai Chung Hospital for its co-operation and support over the years, Kwai Chung Divisional Commander Leung Chung-man has presented a letter of appreciation to the hospital on behalf of New Territories South Regional Commander Lau Chi-wai.
