Chief Inspector (CIP) Florence Chow Hung of Support Wing has been presented with the "Ombudsman's Award 2014 for Officers of Public Organisations" for her outstanding performance in dealing with enquiries and complaints whilst handling the "Code on Access to Information". She is the first police officer nominated for the award.

CIP Chow was among 41 public officers who were presented with the award by the Ombudsman, Ms Connie Lau, at a presentation ceremony on October 30.

CIP Chow said the award was not only an honour and encouragement for her, but also recognition of the concerted efforts made by Force members in handling requests related to the Code. "With more public expectations of our services, we should adopt a more positive and understanding attitude to improve service quality and effectively handle complaints," she added.

Introduced in 1997, the award scheme was extended in 1999 to honour individual public officers for their contributions to a fair, open, accountable and efficient public administration. In 2011, the scheme was further extended to recognise public officers' efforts to handle enquiries and complaints related to the Code.
