Mr Andy TSANG

Commissioner of Police

Dear Andy,

"I am writing to express to you and your colleagues my deepest appreciation of the dedication, professionalism, selfless contribution and great team efforts displayed by the Force in tackling perhaps the biggest protest in Hong Kong in recent decades." ......

"Despite feeling stressed and even exhausted at times, our Police colleagues have continued to show firm commitment in carrying out their duties. In the face of violent behaviour, verbal abuses, malicious allegations of some protesters and their supporters, they have handled the situation with great tolerance, professionalism and determination.  This is simply exemplary and admirable." ......

"I am sure all law-abiding Hong Kong citizens are grateful and proud of the Force's performance.  This is borne out by the support and appreciation expressed to the Police by many groups and individuals in society.  The maintenance of the rule of law, one of Hong Kong's fundamental core values, owes much to the great efforts of you and your colleagues and Hong Kong shall remain one of the safest cities in the world." ......

"Please convey my heartfelt thanks to all the colleagues in the Force and rest assured that they have the full support of the senior echelon of the Government. My thoughts go out to all the Police colleagues who were injured or fell sick during the operations, in particular the sergeant who is still in critical condition in the Ruttonjee Hospital." ......
