Education Bureau has presented a Certificate of Commendation to Police College for actively supporting, and making contributions to, the Hong Kong Qualifications Framework (QF). Police College Director Paul Lau, representing the Force, received the certificate from the Secretary for Education, Mr Eddie Ng Hak-kim, on December 9, 2014.

Police College is the first training organisation amongst the disciplined services and government departments to acquire an accreditation status to operate professional training programmes under the 7-tiered QF at Level 4 and Level 5. In July 2014, the College started delivering the "Professional Diploma Programme in Policing" for Recruit Police Constable at QF Level 4 and the "Professional Diploma Programme in Leadership and Management in Policing" for Probationary Inspector at QF Level 5.

The QF will improve the Force's developments in the long run.  With implementation of the QF-recognised programmes, the College has committed itself to enhancing training and grooming  officers into police professionals.  Simultaneously, the College will continue exploring opportunities for credit transfer so that training programmes can be articulated with those of local and overseas tertiary institutions in the interest of officers'continuous education and lifelong learning.

The College will enhance the quality of training programmes so that the Force would train up officers into police professionals with the highest level of capability and integrity.

Launched in 2008, the QF now has seen 20 industries setting up their Industry Training Advisory Committees, covering about 48 percent of the total labour force in Hong Kong.  There are at the moment more than 8 000 courses recognised under the QF, which are listed in the Qualifications Register available for all learners.
