EDIST
 
Chai Wan Divisional Commander Wong Kwok-yin, North Point Divisional Commander Leung Yan-kit, Eastern District (EDIST) Police Community Relations Officer Tsang Fan-hon, and officers from Regional Crime Prevention Office (RCPO) Hong Kong Island joined the Vice-chairman of Eastern District Council (EDC), Mr Kung Pak-cheung, EDC members, Eastern District Fight Crime Committee (DFCC) members, Eastern Senior Police Call (SPC) members and local community organisations in disseminating anti-crime messages in Chai Wan on January13 and 26 and in North Point on January 19 and 21. They also handed out "Anti-Crime Lucky Bags" carrying messages on combating burglary and theft to the public.
 
WTSDIST
 
Wong Tai Sin District (WTSDIST) kicked off a Winter Precaution Publicity Campaign at Tsz Wan Shan Shopping Centre and Lok Fu as well as Sai Kung Town Centre on January 28 and 29 respectively.
 
Local community leaders offered WTSDIST Commander Chau Cho-kei full support for the campaign, including Chairman of Wong Tai Sin District Council (DC), Mr Li Tak-hong, Chairman of Sai Kung DC, Mr Ng Sze-fuk, and members of Wong Tai Sin and Sai Kung DCs and DFCCs. Wong Tai Sin District Junior Police Call (JPC) and SPC members also joined the guests and officers in distributing anti-crime fliers to shop owners and the public.
 
TPDIST
 
Tai Po District (TPDIST) commander Patrick Laidler joined Tai Po DFCC Chairman, Mr Kwok Wing-keung, Tai Po District Officer, Mr Bassanio So, Tai Po DC Chairman, Mr Cheung Hok-ming, as well as Tai Po JPC and SPC in distributing leaflets and souvenirs in crowded places in Tai Po Market on January 26. 
 
The messages driven home focused on home and shop security, prevention of technology crime and telephone deception, and steering clear of illegal gambling and illegal fireworks and firecrackers.
 
WDIST
 
Western District (WDIST) Commander Choy Wise, Deputy District Commander Ho Kai-hin, and Police Community Relations Office officers, joined area representatives and SPC members in distributing anti-deception and anti-burglary fliers and spring scrolls at Sai Wan Estate, Dried Seafood Street and Kennedy Town on January 14 and 21 and February 5 to remind the public to remain vigilant to scams and look after their property.
 
MKDIST
 
Mong Kok District (MKDIST) Commander Mark Foster led officers and MK JPC and SPC, together with the Chairman of Yau Tsim Mong DFCC, Mr Chan Siu-tong, and other DFCC members in conducting a "Winter Precaution Fight Crime Publicity" campaign at Fa Yuen Street on February 4, distributing anti-crime leaflets and small gifts to residents, visitors and shopkeepers to promote protection of personal belongings.
 
SMPDIST
 
Acting Sau Mau Ping District (SMPDIST) Commander Cheung Shun-ho, together with members of Kwun Tong DC and DFCC, SMPDIST JPC Honorary Presidents, as well as SPC and JPC volunteers, kicked off a Winter Precaution Fight Crime Bus Parade on February 8. 
 
The parade headed for housing estates and shopping centres in the district to distribute Lunar New Year scrolls and red packets. Along the way, the bus broadcast fight crime messages reminding residents to take care of their household property.
 
NTN Region
 
In the past two months, New Territories North Regional Crime Prevention Office (NTN RCPO) called at elderly homes and service centres and offered a series of "Scam Prevention Awareness" seminars focusing on the modus operandi of phone and other types of scam. 
 
NTN RCPO hoped that elders would remain more vigilant to scams after attending the seminars. At the seminars, NTN Regional Crime Prevention Officer Louise Lam distributed a "Scam Prevention with Love" gift pack containing towels, gloves, socks and red packets sponsored by volunteer groups. 
 
The Chairperson of the Ta Ku Ling Kei Lok Community Association, Ms Chui Yuk-lin, thanked NTN RCPO for caring the elderly and spreading the message on fighting crime.
 
CCB
 
Commercial Crime Bureau (CCB) has reminded the public of "money swapping" scam, which involves culprits cheating retail shop cashiers out of extra changes by using large denomination banknotes for payment of small purchases.
 
In the past two months, CCB carried out educational and publicity activities to disseminate messages on the scam, including two seminars for retail business in conjunction with the Hong Kong Retail Management Association; leaflets distribution in various districts with the support of the District Councils and DFCCs, local community leaders, NTN RCPO and the Police Community Relations Offices of Tai Po, Yuen Long and Tuen Mun Districts.
 
Furthermore, an episode on re-enactment of scams and prevention messages was broadcast on Police Magazine and a press interview on the episode was held with the assistance of Police Public Relations Branch.
 
CSWDIV 
 
Cheung Sha Wan Division (CSWDIV), Sham Shui Po District Police Community Relations Office and Kowloon West RCPO jointly hosted an "Anti-telephone deception and Anti-burglary Seminar" at Chak On Estate on February 11. Sham Shui Po District Councillor, Ms Ng Mei, representatives from Housing Authority and Chak On Estate Residents' Committee, and over 100 residents attended the seminar and got a briefing on the crime trends, modus operandi and crime prevention measures for residents and security guards.
 
KE Region
 
The RCPO of Kowloon East (KE) kicked off a large-scale publicity event on prevention of phone scam in Kowloon East Region on February 14. 
 
Officiating at the kick-off ceremony in KE Regional Headquarters were KE Superintendent Yuen Chi-kin, Assistant Professor of City University of Hong Kong, Dr Jessica Li, Chairman of Sai Kung DFCC, Dr Lam Ching-choi, Chairman of Kwun Tong DFCC, Mr Alan Chow, and Chairman of Wong Tai Sin DFCC, Mr Simon Wong.
 
Lending a hand in the event were 10 undergraduates from City University of Hong Kong, 44 probationary inspectors from Police College and 18 Teens Ambassadors of "Project Teens". After the ceremony, the volunteers set out for the densely populated places in the police districts in KE Region to spread crime prevention messages.
