The Regional Crime Prevention Office of Kowloon West (RCPO KW) and the Kowloon West Youth-Care Committee (KWYCC) jointly staged "Kowloon West Ethnic Harmony No Drugs No Crime Carnival 2015" on January 25, attracting about 20 000 participants.

KW Regional Commander Chung Siu-yeung, the District Commanders in KW, Chairman of the KWYCC, Dr Leung Lun, and the KWYCC Presidents declared the event open as officiating guests.

Many public and private organisations pitched in at the carnival by setting up game booths to disseminate messages on fighting crimes and drugs, including all the District Fight Crime Committees in KW, Junior Police Call, Boys' and Girls' Clubs Association of Hong Kong, Society of Rehabilitation and Crime Prevention, Hong Kong, Society for the Aid and Rehabilitation of Drug Abusers, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Narcotics Division, KW Juvenile Protection Section and MTR Volunteer Team.

The performances of the Police Pipe Band and Police Dog Unit as well as displays of the heavy armoured vehicles of Police Tactical Unit and the latest model of police motorcycles caught the fancy of many participants.

Conversant in Cantonese, two Non-ethnic Chinese police officers, "Zareena" and "Deep" of Pakistani origin, acted as MCs. They also shared with the participants their experiences of becoming police officers and their ambition to serve the community. Members of Yau Tsim District's "Project Gemstone" also pitched in the event by assisting in setting up game booths. Through participation in the carnival, the "Project Gemstone" brushed up their organisation skills and sense of social responsibilities.

KW also took the opportunity to promote racial harmony by inviting people with different cultural backgrounds to take part in the carnival.
