During the meeting, both sides reported their law and order situations and reviewed the achievements of co-operation in the past year. Views were exchanged on issues such as police liaison, personnel training, boundary control, criminal investigation, Internet security, cross-boundary crimes, anti-narcotics and counter-terrorism, and suggestions were made for strengthening co-operation in those areas. 

 

The delegates also paid a courtesy call on State Councillor and Minister of Public Security, Mr Guo Shengkun, and visited the Beijing SWAT Operational Base. 

 

The MPS and the Force have been taking turns in hosting the Bilateral Meeting since 1998 for discussing issues of mutual concerns. The increasing interaction between the Mainland and Hong Kong has brought unprecedented challenges to the Force and the Mainland public security authorities. Through closer co-operation, both parties will see more success in crime prevention and law and order in the year to come.
