Police College Director Paul Lau and Deputy Director and Force Chief Knowledge Champion, Dr Eric Cheng, attended the 10th International Symposium for Best Police Practices in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, between March 1 and 4.

The symposium brought together the senior police officers, law enforcement officers and senior officials from more than 10 police services and governments around the world, including those in Europe, Middle East, the USA and Asia.

During the symposium, Mr Lau, on behalf of the Force, signed with Major General Prof Dr Mohammad A. Bin Fahad, Assistant Commander for Academic Affairs and Training of the Dubai Police, a Memorandum of Understanding on Exchange of Best Police Practices and Knowledge in Police Training and Development.  This unprecedented agreement with a Middle East police service represents the Force's determination to break new grounds in international collaboration with overseas police agencies.

Dr Cheng, as an invited speaker, gave a presentation to an international audience on the Force's Knowledge Management (KM) Journey, titled "The Force as a Knowledge Enterprise committed to serving local society in a global context."  The audience found the Force's KM experiences inspiring.
